Plato (427 BC–347 BC) was an ancient Greek philosopher from Athens, the most famous student of Socrates and teacher of Aristotle. His work in the form of philosophical dialogues has survived intact and has exerted an enormous influence on ancient Greek philosophy and more generally on the Western philosophical tradition to the present day.
